The Science, the Mythology & the Magic of Menopause - Made Personal
Meet Milly
I see you.
I see how hard you are working. I see how hard you are trying. I see how much you are growing. I see your resilience. I see you wanting to embrace change and imagine a new life for yourself. I see your courage. I see the way you are showing up for others.
I also see your struggle. I see that it feels hard. I know that at times you feel broken and worried about yourself. I know that the pace of change is hard to keep up with and the amount of information is overwhelming. At times you feel so alone in this.
This is where I step in, with an antidote to everyday life; with answers to your questions and support for your struggles. Knowledge, experience and practical guidance.
I bring everything I know from 25 years of Chinese medicine, Functional medicine and working with bodies (acupressure, moxa, cupping, slow and deep, intuitive bodywork informed by Zen Thai Shiatsu) — to a new, uniquely Milly style of practice.
Quiet. Present. Embodied. Authentic.
Ways To Work Together
Change is already happening.
Where will it take you?
Bodywork
Intuitive bodywork provides physical relief and space for your nervous system to recalibrate and settle. This space and rest is essential for our ability to create, process and respond to our experience of change.
Drawing on 25 years experience as a body worker, bringing together elements of Chinese medicine, massage and Shiatsu, including moxa and cupping.

Frequently Asked Questions

I use the term bodywork to encompass all of my experience working with bodies including my intuitive knowing. I know that our bodies hold so much of the past and present. Known as ‘somatic work’ (soma = body), our bodies are a rich repository of experience and can be a fast track to revelation and restoration.
On the day of your consultation, we will discuss your needs and from that I will determine a treatment plan that most closely meets your needs. My aim is to provide the deepest level of rest, relief and comfort. To do this, I draw on everything I've accumulated over 25 years of working with bodies — intuition, massage, acupressure, moxa, cupping, Zen/Zen Thai Shiatsu.
More than any technique, what I bring into the room is presence. Deep, undivided attention to what your body is doing, what it's holding, what it's trying to tell us and what you most need in this moment.

Bodywork is not covered by private health insurance or Medicare.

Wear comfortable loose clothing like you’d wear around the house on a Sunday. Track pants or leggings, pyjama pants, whatever you feel most comfortable in. Wear warm socks and long sleeves in cooler months. You’ll be kept warm by an electric blanket and soft light blankets. Expect to feel very relaxed. We may work over clothes or exposed skin, with or without oil, depending on your preference and needs.
Expect me to move your body around while you remain passively relaxed – a bit more Thai massage style and dynamic than usual table-based therapies, though also some traditional massage is included.
I stay in communication without being too obtrusive to ensure you feel safe, comfortable and in control during the treatment.

In our first conversation I want to hear your story. What has bought you to this session – I know there will be many elements to this story and a lot going on for you. I want to hear all of it – at least, anything that you feel comfortable to share. After 25 years listening to people’s stories, there is nothing that can shock or offend me. I will not judge you and everything you say is confidential. If you’re a previous patient of mine, you’ll be familiar with my natural curiosity about how all of your physical systems are working and my fascination with your blood and other tests to help fill out your picture. We’ll identify your priorities, and what steps are next to help you move forward and what I recommend for the path ahead.

No. So many women just feel like something is off but they can’t say what so they don’t think it could be menopause that they are experiencing. Assessment of your symptoms and care so far will be part of our early discussions. I will review any tests already completed or make recommendations if you haven’t had any investigations yet. Many women find it difficult to find an experienced or sympathetic GP who truly understands their symptoms or sees them as related to hormones. Too many women are directed toward ineffective treatments when there are often far more effective and safer solutions that also have fewer side effects. Finding the right team is everything. But there is so much that we will cover together that has nothing to do with symptoms, but focusses on who you are now, and who you want to become. Exploring what this next phase means to you and where you want to see yourself so we can work towards those goals together.

YES! Emphatically YES! Really this process is for anyone, I just love working with women in this phase of life because I find it most rewarding. We are all headed toward being post-menopause which is really defined as one year without a period. After that you in menopause for the rest of your life. I like to call it the halfway mark as there is a LOT of great life to live beyond our menstruating years.
This program is about making the rest of life the best it can be by finding clarity now about what matters most to you and then finding your way there step by step.

Most people start experiencing hormonal changes in the 40’s. It could be as early as your mid-30’s (though rare). This is often part of perimenopause and it can affect lots of different areas of your life, especially your menstrual cycle, but not only that. Menopause itself is really after you’ve stopped menstruating and have had a whole year without a period. You’ll be in menopause for the rest of your life. Symptoms change over time and alarmingly, many of us have not got the right information to understand what symptoms might present at this time and often suffer unnecessarily. Also, different things show up at different times for different people. It’s complex and expert care is highly recommended. You can find more information on my blog: Is this menopause. [LINK]
